Ember & Oak
Coffee Co.

Fitzroy's neighbourhood roastery

Good coffee, warm company.

We roast small batches of directly traded beans in the back room, bake in the front, and pour every cup like it's for an old friend. Drop in, slow down, stay a while.

Our Story

From a tiny cart on Acorn Lane

Ember & Oak started in 2018 as a fold-out coffee cart under the old oak outside number 14. These days we've got a proper roastery, a long communal table, and the same stubborn belief: coffee tastes better when it's roasted close and poured with care.

"We wanted a room that smells like toast and sounds like laughter."

What we stand for

Small batch, big heart

Directly traded beans

We pay farmers well above market and visit our partners every harvest.

Roasted in-house

Every bean is roasted metres from where it's poured, never weeks ahead.

Baked fresh daily

Pastries from our own ovens each morning — whatever's left goes to OzHarvest.

Community first

Free cupping club, local art on the walls, and a bowl of water for every dog.

Kind words

Don't just take ours for it

"The magic here ruined every other coffee for me. No regrets."

Priya S. — regular since 2019

"Half my novel was written at their communal table. They never rushed me once."

Dan W. — writer in residence, self-appointed

"My kelpie gets greeted by name before I do. Fair enough, honestly."
